Anyway, last Wednesday I got some recordings done. And since I’ve lost track of who all I’ve promised recordings when they’re done I just uploaded a few to YouTube and have been posting them in all the places I usually hang out.

DISCLAIMER: This is my first time recording. Neither of these are perfect. They are also just rough cuts, so the sound quality isn’t as high as it might otherwise be. There are some issues with the mixing, since these were just tracks he threw onto a CD for me to take home, not putting a lot of time into it on the spot.

That being said; thoughts? Comments? I like comments…

Composer Wanted for Short Film (No Pay) tag:christianfilmmakers.org,2010:forums/viewthread/.7600 2010-08-24T09:43:24Z 2010-08-25T16:49:15Z D. Reid Recently I finished editing together some footage that I shot from a local Civil War Reenactment. Instead of trying to find some royalty free music for it, I thought I would ask if anyone here would like to make the score. I cannot pay, so this would be just for the fun of it.

Email me if you are interested.

Thanks,

David

Best Audio Recording Method tag:christianfilmmakers.org,2010:forums/viewthread/.7342 2010-07-06T18:43:48Z Seth Rice My brother and I have been interested in film making for a while now, making a few goofy/unscripted films.  We are now working on getting our equipment in order for filmmaking… we plan on starting with a serious short film production this fall.

We will be probably be shooting with a Canon GL2, but there is a possibility I can get a friend who has a Panasonic GH1 to shoot the film.  We recently got a pretty good deal on a Rode NTG-1 on ebay, and have been trying to decide what to use as the audio interface.  I’ve heard reviews of the Zoom H4N, and it seems to be a pretty well respected audio recorder among indie filmmakers.

However, we were also looking at getting a small battery powered mixer, (The Behringer 1002b,) and then running that into a small recorder, potentially the Zoom H1 when it comes out, or something similar.  This would be about 100 dollars cheaper than the H1, and would give us the ability to record with more than two mics.  Since it would also be used to record music, that would be a definite benefit.

Has anybody used a similar set-up?  Also, has anybody used the 3.5 mic jacks on a Zoom recorder?

Actually, I’d be glad to hear any advice on audio recording y’all might have.

Thanks in advance!

Seth

How Much to Charge? tag:christianfilmmakers.org,2010:forums/viewthread/.7514 2010-08-04T11:01:51Z David W. Hamilton I had a question for y’all: how do you figure out how much you’re going to charge someone for composing something?

Epic music tag:christianfilmmakers.org,2010:forums/viewthread/.7349 2010-07-07T19:26:01Z Carolyn Noordhoek My sad music thread got majorly derailed, or I would have asked this there…

Anyone got recommendations for epic music? Stuff with choir, film scores, that sort of thing. smile

As a side note,  I would prefer it to be specific tracks in an album, and composers too, because that makes it easier to look up on Grooveshark (if I put track, album, and composer and still don’t get it, I know it’s just not there, not merely the fault of an annoying search thingie..) but whole scores aren’t bad either. (just takes a little longer to find. ) smile
