Hello!
I don’t know if this is more appropriate for the “General Discussion” or “Screenwriting” section, so I posted this in both. I’m sorry for the redundancy! I don’t mean to be rude. I post on the “Music and Sound” section a lot, but I mostly do reading around here ...

Anyway, I just watched WALL-E a couple days ago, and yesterday I watched it with Andrew Stanton’s commentary. (He was the director and one of the writers.) He mentioned something that I thought was really cool ... one of his story inspirations for this film was the story of Noah’s Ark! Very Happy

When you think about it, it makes sense ... the world has become uninhabitable, and people seek refuge in a ship until the planet can support life again. A graceful creature finds a plant (an obvious symbol) and brings it back to the people, who have to rebuild the entire civilization.

For those of you who still don’t get it, the Axiom is kind of like the Ark, EVE represents the dove, and the plant is like the olive branch that the dove found. I normally catch stuff like this, but I guess I was just so captivated by the film itself that for once I wasn’t analyzing as much as I usually do. Hurray for film commentaries! Smile

I have no idea if Andrew Stanton is a Christian or not, but it’s still cool that a Biblical story helped inspire such a wonderful and popular film. Very Happy

  God bless,

Andrew Stanton claims to be a Christian. He did an interview with World magazine when Wall-E hit theaters, and he said as much. It’s subscriber content on the Web site, so I can’t link to it. Sorry!

The Bible has got to be one of the best sources of inspiration for film ideas!  Smile  Now if we would only read them…  Wink

Yep, Andrew’s one of the Christians at Pixar. Smile Eve is also a not so chance naming. Wink Smile

It’s really cool seeing people work in Pixar, sharing their faith and backing movies with good world views. (Mostly. Razz)
