Yesterday ten of us got together at the Rockyard in Castle Rock, CO. (Just south of Denver.)

Jason Warrick, stunts, Castle Rock, CO
Charles Denler, film composing, “I don’t have a backup plan.” Highlands Ranch, CO
Chris Ong, filmmaking, Greenly, CO
Alice A. Ong, filmmaking, Greenly, CO
Steve Arri, writer, Colorado Springs, CO
John Doryk, film composing, sound, Colorado Springs, CO
David White, filmmaking, Aurora, CO
Tony and Edye Baumann, acting, Littleton, CO
Nathaniel Bluedorn <nathaniel@bloomingthorn.com>, Illinois

Chris Ong and Jason Warrick demonstrate something dangerous.

Steve Arri listens to Tony Baumann.

The other side of that conversation.

Alice Ong talkes with John Doryk.

David White analyzes how John Doryk and Charles Denler use their eyebrows.

Charles Denler (left) and John Doryk (right) really had a lot to talk about. Steve Arri had a lot to listen to.

A lot of energy. He’s probably saying “I don’t have a backup plan.” He needs to explain what he means by that.

This was the most animated group we’ve had yet.

Cool!  Looks like fun, I’ll be in Colorado in November, so if they’re still going on, I’ll look you up, Chris!

There is none happier than Nathaniel Bluedorn at a gathering with a camera.

August 5 - I camped out in Flaming Gorge, then drove on to Salt Lake City and staid at Kurt Eilander’s house.

Me and the rocks.

Kurt at home.

August 6 - Just two of us in Salt Lake City - Brandon Hatlock and I. Kurt Eilander was captured by his job and couldn’t make it.

Brandon and I talked about the business of making films and finding stories.

We eat downtown at the Lion House Pantry, which is next to Brigham Young’s house. This was all during a dust storm, so when the sun came out the sky had a wonderful glow behind the Salt Lake Temple.

I’m in Moscow, Idaho this morning waiting for Andrew Gilver and Jeremy Sauder to get up so we can go to church. We staid up late talking about (1) Does Pixar make Christian movies? (2) What is the single greatest constraint in making better movies? (3) What are the movies that have changed world culture the most? (4) What does the word “liberal” mean? Those are some of my favorite topics these days, so I had fun. <smile>

We also watched a very eccentric movie titled “Brick.”

Monday we’re doing a get-together in Seattle.
