My point exactly.  M. Sullivan’s actions in RTP are actually questionably just - he’s killing bad people and stealing from the same, in order to protect his son.

So the end is right, but one could argue the means are wrong.  Thus, you can do right by doing wrong.

We’ve had this discussion before, Gabe.

Of course, I would make every reasonable effort to reimburse the owner(s) for whatever it was I stole and any necessary repairs.

But the bottom line is that the life of my wife is more important to me than a $3 box of bandages. I’m also willing to wager that the owner of the shop would agree.

(Although, what could kill her and also be prevented by a Band-AID is a mystery to me ...)

Gabe, have you ever heard either phrases:
  * “... doing the right thing for the wrong reason”
  * “... doing the wrong thing for the right reason?”

There are other variations, but that should get the point across. 8)

Agreed on both counts.

And Eric- in other words- “Right heart, wrong head”?

Yah.

So let’s just do the right thing for the right reason, shall we?

(But I am not saying that our film characters must always do so)

I refuse to bend my life and my creative output to your interpretation of the word.

It’s not my interpretation of the word - it’s just that The Standard clearly requires you to say “Cooliosis” not “Coolified.”

The New American Standard, which isn’t useful for any deep and/or meaningful interpretative efforts!
