It looks like you have two clips of interlaced footage on screen at the same time, with a different field dominance set for each clip.  If this is the case, check your settings for all your clips and adjust so everything is the same.

Also, what do you mean by “between every clip”?  Are you talking about a transition from one clip to the other, or am I not understanding you?

Can you look at the footage outside of he editor? When did this happen?

it happened recently within the past week. i can see the footage in any movie player but you can’t tell it it since the clips are in larger files all together.

Sorry Joe, I am not understanding your answer…

Eg. I can open my video file from FCp in Quick time. If you can do something similar, you may be able to tell if the video files themselves are damaged or if it is specific to one editor.

Did the files ever look normal? Or did it happen on import? Do you remember what you were doing when you first realized this had happened?

Hey Joe, you might try deleting the Sony Vegas preference files.  That should restore everything to default condition.  I know for Final Cut Pro you have to do that every once in a while to clean things up.  You should be able to find out where on your computer those files are stored, from the Sony website.

It is dark because the frame being interlaced in to it is almost pure black with some red guy in it. You can see in the attached images that I have re-constructed the 2 images being interlaced togather.

Just a shot in the dark here. Check and make sure you don’t have some kind of interlacing filter on. Try applying a de-interlacing filter.
