Final Cut Express Export Issues

Hey guys!

Same problem…different issue.

I have finally locked the video for this production. Still can’t get it out of the program. All past issues appear to have been resolved. Now, every time I attempt to export, it gets about 20%-22% done (currently on my fourth attempt) and then Final Cut Express quits. I don’t know if anyone has any ideas…but I really need to get this project out of Final Cut so I can finish it!

HELP

oh no, not again!  hmmm

Ok, so tell me what your current setup looks like, the timeline, the export settings, the RAM, the HD space, the HD type, everything…

Especially, are you trying to export this to a USB HD?

Are you using Compressor?

Could it be that there Is something in the Timeline at that point which could be giving FC fits?

Wish I could have looked at your setup when we met in NC recently!  gulp

Praying for the best,
Paul

Timeline is about 80 minutes in length (I am estimating about 40-55 video tracks and three times that many audio tracks). I can’t imagine what could possibly be the problem in the timeline.

I have 2GB of RAM
I have 124GB HD space
I am exporting to my internal HD because it has the most space.

I do not have Compressor.

Thanks

Hmmmm, ok.

So you’re telling me you have 150 audio tracks!? Wowsers!

And you’re exporting within your—- what is it again, iMac or Macbook, can’t remember?

Are you trying to run other programs simultaneously to the FC export?  If you are, don’t.

What is the GHz speed on your Mac?

And do this Caleb:
Open Activity Monitor in your Utilities, keep an eye on things, see what’s going I/O, see the usage, see if you see anything unusual hogging a bunch of RAM (Safari, if you’re trying to be online at the same time!) or a spike…

Also what about this workaround:  exporting in small sections with In/Out Markers set on the timeline,  then joining those multiple small clips back together in Quicktime or over in the V Timeline in DVD Studio Pro (is that what you’re going to use for the DVD burn, or iDVD?)

I’ll let you digest some of that, then wait to see what you think…

The audio tracks are due to the fact that I separated the stereoed files, edited them seperately and then copied for each person in the shot, panning appropriately.

I have a Macbook Dual Core 2.4 ghz processor

This would be one of the programs I am running simultaneously. lol

I will try those things you suggested. Thanks
