Um ... I watched this movie a long time ago and remembered it being hilarious.

Upon watching it over a decade later, I thought it was pretty stupid.

It had some funny moments, some good lines, and two very contrasting characters that were both played by Mike Myers, but for the most part, it was just “meh.”

I’m a little disappointed, actually; I’m not sure why I thought it was so funny before ... I was only in the 6th grade (?) when I saw it.

Which is weird, because I remember all of my middle school friends thinking it was funny, but the movie isn’t really one for middle school-age kids.

It has too much sexual innuendo and dialogue for most parents to approve their 12-13-year-olds watching, and what preteen/teen is going to appreciate 60s throwbacks juxtaposed in the late 90s?

At the same time, there’s a good deal of dumb adolescent humor in it, such as when Austin is relieving himself after being thawed from the cryogenic freezing, and when Dr. Evil “shushes” Scott over and over.

So yeah ... it’s too adult for kids, but it’s too kid-humored for adults.

Weirdness.

Anyway, it was okay; I’m glad I watched it again, but I remembered it being funnier ...

I passed an auto dealership using an image of Austin Powers on their billboard to sell cars.

Which would be an infringement of the right of publicity.

Unless he and/or the studio gave consent?

Someone did something like that way back in the day with Leonard Nimoy and it caused a bit of fuss.

It was a used car dealership, so yeah, they didn’t get permission. It’s happened to a few celebrities.
