Official “Hobbit” Costume Discussion (beware of spoilers)

The first photos and videos from the set of “The Hobbit” have been popping up on the web. Some of the most interesting are the production photos of the dwarves.

I can’t figure out what’s wrong with these pictures. It’s seems like they tried to make them look like paintings or something. Oh, well. At least we get to see the costumes!

Oh, I forgot to mention that the first group is Dori, Nori and Ori and the second is Oin and Gloin, (Gimli’s father). You can tell that they’ve referenced Gimli’s appearance from the LOTR for Gloin.
  What’s with Dori’s pointy hair-do?

Coolness!  And I really appreciate all the great work you do on finding, researching, analyzing and presenting regarding costumes, Leila!  smile

I really like them so far, though yeah, Dori’s hairdo is pretty odd. Here are Fili and Kili:

I’m really looking forward to seeing Thorin, and I’m quite happy with the actor they chose to play him. Richard Armitage was excellent in BBC’s Robin Hood.

Those are the skinniest dwarves I’ve ever seen.  LOL
Nice use of fur on Fili. I see that they’re trying to use a variety of weaponry for the dwarves.

Next group of dwarves is online! The most unique feature that I’ve noticed is the “Paul Bunyan” hat, (as Joe calls it) that Bofur is wearing.

On either side is Bombur and Bifur. And wow! Take a look at Bombur’s hair!

Looks like they’re seriously going to try to make each dwarf memorable on his own. This’ll be interesting! (In the book, only about half of them were memorable on their own.)

Action figures here we come! The two youngest dwarfs are the most glamorous pair of dwarfs I think I’ve ever seen. Look at their swooshy hair LOL

I’m glad they are trying so hard to make them look different. It will make it easier to watch the movie that way

Here are the newly released Balin and Dwalin.

Balin sort of reminds me of Santa Claus. What those metel things on Dwalin’s hands? Some sort of gauntlets?

Only one dwarf to go, now and we’ll have the entire group!
